Angela Perkins
Hello! My name is Angela Perkins.
I teach Homegrown 26. This is a class that consists of 26 poses. We will focus on breath, foundation, and alignment to cultivate and build strength within each pose. Classes are on Sundays at 8:00 a.m. and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:00 p.m.
I started my yoga journey in 2015. I fell in love immediately, and it has been a big part of my life ever since. I decided last year I wanted to obtain my certification. My 200 hours are in Hot 26 and Vinyasa Yoga. I love the routine and consistency of the 26 poses, and love to flow as well.
Yoga is a creative and healthy outlet I embrace with so much passion. Homegrown Yoga is a community of people I have grown to cherish. Hope to see you in class and that it can be a healing and magical experience for you, as it has been for me.
Jacquie Lounsbury
Hello, my name is Jacquie!
I am a Barre teacher & Certified Personal trainer with a passion for helping clients enjoy their health journey and meet their goals.
I have been teaching barre since 2018 and have been taking since 2016. I’ve always been active in dance and had a competitive figure skating career till I moved to VA in 2012.
My barre experience is a full body workout using low impact movements. We use small movements with a lot of receptions to fatigue the specified muscle group. I have high energy with popular beats, so you can get lost in the beat while you work. All moves can be modified for any fitness level, so you can create your own challenge.
I loved being a figure skater, but it did a number on my body and joints. When I found barre it really connected with me as I could still find a high intensity workout, but low Impact for my joints. I was able to stick with it as it’s always changing each class to find new challenges and great beats to keep me motivated.
Kim Tettoni
Hi, my name is Kim!
I enjoy creating a slower yoga flow, mindfully moving and breathing, while holding poses. I love seeing everyone in class letting go, becoming focused, strong and flexible.
I have been practicing yoga for 20 years and happily teaching for 13. I hold a RYT-200 from Aura Wellness, and several YogaFit Certifications, including a Yoga for Children.
I love teaching yoga in the morning to nurture the mind and body. Intentions are then set to have a positively wonderful day!
I have taught Art education to k-12 students for over 15 years. I also homeschooled my son, who is now in college. I am an artist who loves being creative, even on the yoga mat! Hope to see you there!
Blake Röder
Hi, my name is Blake!
I teach many forms of dance, yoga, somatics, conditioning, and flexibility. As a yoga practitioner, I focus my work on connecting the philosophical and meditative practices of the yoga tradition to physical practices.
I have been practicing yoga since 2003, and received a 200-hr RYT certification through the Yoga Dojo in Richmond, VA. I study Hinduism (Advaita Vedanta and Kashmiri Shaivism especially) and philosophy independently and am currently completing a 500 hour Advanced Certificate Program with Yogic Studies.
I currently teach yoga and pilates every other Saturday
My class is a slow burn with a focus on stability, breath, and meditation. We move slowly and methodically, using the challenges of physical postures to still the mind and release tension/pain/tightness.
Kathleen Schwartz
Hi, my name is Kathleen!
I teach Restorative Yin on Thursday mornings and Sunday evenings, as well as Slow Flow Restorative on Monday evenings. You may also find me subbing a Potluck Flow or 26&2 on occasion.
I have practiced and taught many different expressions of Hatha Yoga, but my passion is Restorative. I find this expression allows us to go deeply inward to release long held tension patterns, both in the physical and subtle realms of our beings, to calm our minds, release stress, reset our nervous systems to a parasympathetic rest and digest state, and live our lives with greater ease. You can expect a calming class where you will be gently guided in each restorative asana, allowing you to move inward and let go of tension. Restorative asana is not about creating bendy shapes on the outside, but deeply releasing on the inside.
I have been practicing yoga off and on for the majority of my life, with it being a daily practice since 2017. I became a teacher in 2021 to share my passion with others. I have 500 hours of yoga teacher training in various forms of Hatha Yoga, mainly through the Siddhi School of Yoga, and well as a 600 hour Ayurveda Health Councilor certification with the Simple Ayurveda School. I am currently studying Supreme Release Yoga, Sanskrit
Nancy Burnet
Hi, my name is Nancy!
I am currently teaching Chair Yoga and Chair Strength. I also teach Mat Yoga, and Pilates. My fitness journey started with running and cardio classes. I find that strength training and yoga keep me strong for life and help me to avoid injuries.
I have been a group fitness instructor for 40 years teaching a variety of formats. I began teaching Chair strength and cardio classes about 17 years ago after training with the Arthritis Foundation and Silver Sneakers Program. My yoga background started with training to teach Chair Yoga 14 years ago. This expanded to a deeper practice of yoga and more trainings and certifications.
When I'm not teaching, I enjoy Mat Yoga and strength training several times per week. My favorite yoga is a slow flow with an emphasis on flexibility and balance, but I also enjoy a Vinyasa class with more challenging movements.
Emma Gardner
Hi, my name is Emma!
I teach vinyasa yoga and it is one of my most preferred styles of yoga so I am excited to be teaching here at homegrown.
I have been practicing yoga for 8 years, and got my RYT 200 through yoga time studio in Purcellville, VA in 2019. I have been teaching slower and faster paced vinyasa classes ever since, and teach a potluck flow on Wednesday nights at 6pm. Students should expect a moderate to quick paced vinyasa flow that is closed with a reading during savasana.
I began practicing yoga in high school as a way to destress and improve my health, and quickly fell in love with it as a result. Yoga is an integral part of my routine and has greatly improved my quality of life as well as the relationship I have with myself. It is an honor to share this practice with others so they may hopefully experience the same.
Brandy Burkhead
Hi, my name is Brandy!
Fitness is my passion. I teach warrior strength and combat aka cardio and strength. I have been teaching for 7 years. Starting with fitcamps in a park then to gyms. I love helping others reach their fitness goals and seeing them push themselves to new limits.
I fell in love with fitness on my own journey to lose weight and feel better but it became so much more than just that and so much more fun with friends. I am certified in group fitness with a range of different certifications.
You can find me teaching a homegrown on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 9:30. You can expect a HIIT or tabata style workout including cardio and weights. My classes are high energy and motivating, and I always make sure to provide modifications for all fitness levels. I believe that fitness should be enjoyable and something that you look forward to, not dread. So come join me for a killer workout and let's crush those goals together.
